TWO MINUTES WITH: SHALLOW GRAVE

Want 'uneasy listening'? Check out Shallow Grave. They're from Auckland and walk a fine line between tranced-out aggression and soul-destroying doom.

Check them out, with mates Bridge Burner, as they support Weedeater and Conan on July 13 at the Kings Arms. Here's what they had to say as part of our Two Minutes With series.

Describe your music in five words or less.

Bad to the fuckin’ bone.

What’s going on in the world of Shallow Grave?

Finishing mixing and artwork for Shallow Grave album number two, eating burgers, buying sick gear with all the money we make from digital album sales. We also have a split LP that we should probably get around to releasing soon.

What motivates you to make music?

Being better than everyone else.

What have been the high and low points of your musical experiences so far?

Conversing with Winston Peters (New Zealand politician) on strong psychedelics.

What music are you listening to at the moment?

Just the classics mate.

Here’s an opportunity to bitch about something, whether music related or not. What really pisses you off?

A fair few things, but most of all shitty bands that have no reason to exist.

You’re putting together your perfect gig featuring New Zealand artists. Who would you get to play and where? Feel free to include acts/DJs/bands/venues that no longer exist.

Pacifier, The Jordan Luck Experience, Midge Marsden, Dobbo, Franko, The Feelers, Stella and Six60 playing at Eden's Bar in Auckland. And it's half-price beers until 10pm.

Tickets from lifeisnoise.com, Oztix, the venues and undertheradar.co.nz for Wellington and Auckland.
